I felt really sick after i read that quote in an article on Engadget today. I thought it may have been the potatoes i was eating at the time, but the more i read the article the sicker i get. I don’t see the paper book becoming extinct in my lifetime, but it’s really sad to see the way things are heading. I wonder if there will be textbooks in school in 10-20 years, or if every student will be given a Kindle (or whatever the e-book reader of choice is at the time).
Textbooks will probably have the biggest tug of war in the future… they’re top tier products for the publishing business i think… theyre so specialized, high priced, go thru many revisions that get rebought, get underlining and heavy utility, required for courses and tied to the way colleges run and authors keep careers. Also very liable for bootlegging. As the gossip goes, the publishers have been really resistant to changing their business with those. I added your RSS!
